Vigilance and Penalty Provisions
Theft of energy, interference with meters of Board tampering of meter Box seals, terminal seals, meter body seals and other metering seals and equipments are criminal offences and are punishable with imprisonment upto 3 years and/or fine Rs. 5,000/-. If during checking of connections, theft/malpractices and tampering with meter box, terminal and meter seals are found, the quantum of electricity energy shall be assessed as per procedure prescribed by the Board. The quantum of electricity so assessed in excess of the recorded shall be liable to be billed at 2.5 times the normal tariff applicable to the consumer. The minimum period of billing shall be done as given below :
1. Industrial/commercial power : Six months.
2. Commercial light & Fan : Six months.
3. Domestic L&F and agricultural pumps : Three months
